Helianthemum (rock rose), what’s that?
The rock rose is a little nice yellow flower, which is typical for calcareous meadows, also called sunflower (from the Greek Helios = sun and Anthos = flower). A second species of helianthemum, the Apennine helianthemum, is found here in the northern boundary of its area of distribution.
What better symbol could we therefore have found for a project focused on the calcareous slopes and sunlit rocks, habitats for numerous « rare » species and located at the northern rim of their area ? Also, what a huge responsibility to make sure this type of species keeps living for many years more in our regions !
